"A man rushed onto the beach, out of breath.
“Where? Where is it, exactly?” he said. He was in apparent hurry, his tone demanding. He’d heard
that amber had washed up during yesterday’s wind.
I couldn’t confirm.
“Ok then, I’ll run to the next beach.”
The burning sun was balanced by a faint salty breeze. My eyes began drifting across the sand.
Over the course of two hours, I collected specimens along the shoreline within a 200-metre radius from 56°37’41.7”N 21°02’08.9”E, in Medze parish, north of Liepāja, Latvia. The finds are pictured here — with some omissions. The full inventory amounted to five kilograms. Photographing them required 11 hours and 15 minutes. Appropriate disposal took less than two minutes."
